Hi, I’m Helen, an elite triathlete and runner. I caught the endurance bug after my first Olympic distance triathlon 18 months ago. I instantly craved the adrenalin and satisfaction that I got from endurance racing, and decided to enter middle-distance and full Ironman triathlons. I won my age category in my first Ironman and qualified for the world championships in Kona in 2017. Since then I have had multiple age category wins and podium finishes, including 3rd place overall at Ironman Norway 2018. But my highlight of 2018 was achieving a 9th place in my age category at the Ironman 70.3 world championships in South Africa.

When I first started triathlons, I didn’t know a thing about sports nutrition. I followed the trends and fuelled on gels and bars. Having had a number of stomach issues I started to research alternatives that better matched my usual healthy eating habits. I found out about Longhaul’s ultra-fuels and tested them on a long training ride. That was it! I decided that I would use them for the 70.3 World Championships. I can safely say I’ve never felt so energised throughout a whole race, even setting a PB on the half marathon.
